“Ex Eleusinos” (“From Eleusis”)
At the back yard of the Eleusis Railway Station, on Tuesday 29 June 2021, CHORUS presented the book Ex Eleusinos by the four Eleusinian writers Yannis Gavalas, Vassilis Iliopoulos, Dimitris Koutrafouris and Michalis Leventis – its first publishing effort.

“The same company, holy men, scribblers, productive and eternally greedy.” as Argyro Orphanoudaki so aptly describes them in her foreword.

The presentation of the book took place in a solemn atmosphere in the crowded garden of the Old Railway Station of Eleusis, honouring the coming together of the four Eleusinian writers and their texts.

The event was coordinated by CHORUS member, Panagiotis Giokas, an introductory speech was presented by the archaeologist Mrs. Poppy Papaggelis. The actress Maria Kastani and the social worker Marilou Milles brought people and events to life through their narratives, while the excellent musicians Yannis Villiotis, Vangelis Giannakis, Vassilis Kolovos and Dinos Hadjiordanou accompanied the event with the musical compositions of Vangelis Giannakis.

In perfect harmony with the hospitable and full-of-memories station, attendees travelled to places both familiar and unknown, creating a new relationship between the city’s present and its overall place in the world.

A city that continues to discover itself…
