Mystery 60 metamorphoSEA is a cultural project in Eleusis by the cultural organisations CHORUS (GR) and Brave New World Producties (NL), in collaboration with 2023 Eleusis European Capital of Culture, as part of the European initiative Ulysses: European Odyssey, which is an epic journey from 2022-2024 across 18 cities in 16 countries, producing artistic responses in public spaces to social and cultural themes identified in the 18 episodes of James Joyce’s iconic novel “Ulysses”.
Mystery 60 metamorphoSEA is a collaborative and artistic form of participatory action in which Eleusinians are invited to envision a better future for their land together. The internationally recognized Dutch Sjoerd Wagenaar directs the site-specific artistic intervention, which draws inspiration from the coast of Eleusis, specifically the area of Vlycha, and begins with an opening to society that explores the desire of Eleusis residents to reconnect with the sea and the city’s beach front.
In this context, the project’s director will lead a series of three-hour workshops/participatory rehearsals aimed at anyone interested in the environment of Eleusis and its coastal front.
Workshops and rehearsals will take place in May and June, with the performance scheduled for September 26, 27, 29, and 30, 2023.
It is strongly advised that all workshops/rehearsals be attended by the participants, as this is critical for the development of a meaningful collaboration that will result in their voluntary participation in the performance.
The workshops will be held at the Eleusis/West Attica Labour Unions Centre (Charilaou 28, Eleusis) in May (from 8 to 12) and June (1, 2 and 6 to 9), from 5 to 8 p.m.
